Sidney Crosby has been skating for the last week. The question is, when will he start practicing with his teammates.
I am a huge Crosby fan, and I am worried that he will be rushed back and won't be able to keep up with the fast paced and hard hitting playoff hockey.
What do you think.
Will Crosby come back this year and how do you think he will do???

Leafs host the Flyers

I am looking forward to going to this game with my dad. I always enjoy watching the Flyers in person because a lot of my favorite players play for them. Mike Richards is one of my all time favorite players in the league. I love that way he plays and wish the Leafs had a guy like him down the middle.
The Leafs have been playing some great hockey of late going 10-3-5 in the last 18 games. They really missed out on grabbing 2 points against the Islanders the other night so I am hoping they score first and come prepared to play.
I will also be watching James Reimer. I have a feeling the Flyers will be trying to go high and glove side on him. It seems to be the scouting report, that when he plays deep in his net to go top shelf on him. I am hoping his finger injury is ok. I really don’t want to see Giggy in net for the Leafs again this season. It has to be the Monster or Reimer the rest of the way for the Leafs.
Here is a cool write up about James Reimer
Let’s hope the Leafs can keep Kris Versteeg off the scoreboard.

Scouting the Marlies

Today I went to the Marlies game with a few friends and it was a great game
The Marlies beat the Manitoba Moose 3-1 with Jonas Gustavsson playing a very solid game. Gustavsson, who hasn't lost in regulation with the team in posting a 3-0-1 record, came into the game with 1.24 goals-against average and .946 save percentage.
Nazem Kadri and Aaron Voros each had a goal and an assist, and Christian Hanson had the Marlies' other goal, scoring the empty netter. Kadri scored a beauty goal just 3 minutes into the game.
I was surprised at how well Aaron Voros played, and was impressed with his speed and hands. It was also odd seeing John Mitchell out there. It looks like after this year he will be cut form the Leafs organization.
Marcel Mueller took a thunderous open-ice hit from Aaron Volpatti, and was on the ice for several minutes and didn't return. After the hit Danny Richmond jumped him and got his butt kicked by Volpatti. I give Richmond credit for hanging in there and sticking up for this teammate.
I am hoping to get to a few more Marlies game this year. It’s nice to see what the future looks like.

Family Day, Hockey Talk

So today is Family day and I just spent part of the day shopping with my Mom. The best part of shopping with her is that I never have to pay, and she is using my Dad’s money to buy me stuffJ
We have seem a lot of trade action the last week and I am wondering if TSN and other major sport networks are starting to get worried that there won’t be much action during their day long Trade Deadline specials.
One huge trade that caught me off guard was the Erik Johnson, Jay McClement and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2011 or 2012 to the Colorado Avalanche for Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2011 or 2012. I like this deal a lot for the Blues and think that Shattenkirk will put up a lot of points on the Blues powerplay. It also makes me wonder if Erik Johnson is really back to 100% after missing all of the 2008-09 season with knee surgery.
Another deal that came out of nowhere was goaltenders Brian Elliott and Craig Anderson swapping teams. Elliott has been getting booed the last month in Ottawa and both teams are hoping a change of scenery might help both these goalies. Anderson is a UFA at the end of the year, so this is his chance to show the league he can still be a top goalie.
I also noticed that Kyle Turris was sent back down to the AHL. I don’t watch a lot of the Phoenix Coyotes games, but I guess he was really struggling. Turris was the 3rd overall pick in 2007. I am shocked he hasn’t had more of an impact in the NHL. If his stock has dropped off out in the desert, I would love to see the Leafs try and get him and give him a shot. I wonder what we would have to give up to get him?
I hope everyone is having a great family day

Thank You Tomas

So it finally it happened, Tomas Kaberle has been traded to the Boston Bruins.
I always liked Kaberle and it is sad to see him go. He was a great pick by the Leafs in the 1996 NHL draft going 204th in the 8th round. His best season with the Leafs was in 2005-06 season when he posted 67 points.
The Maple Leafs traded the veteran defenceman to the Boston Bruins in exchange for prospect centre Joe Colborne, the Bruins' first-round pick in 2011 and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2012.
I think considering Boston was the only team Kaberle wanted to be traded to. This is a great deal for the Leafs. Colborne could be NHL ready next year and it gives the Leafs another high end prospect that can push Nazem Kadri even more.
Wouldn’t it be great if July 1st Kaberle resigns with Toronto ?
What do you think he will sign for, if it’s with Boston , the Leafs or another team?
Is he a $6M a year player?

Bye Bye Versteeg

I won't miss his mouthguard hanging out of his mouth
The Toronto Maple Leafs traded forward Kris Versteeg to the Philadelphia Flyers for a first-round and third-round draft pick in the 2011 draft. Versteeg was sixth on the team in scoring with has 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 53 games this season.

Happy Hockey Day in Canada

I have been waiting for this day for awhile. It’s like Christmas for me.
With the CBC coverage just starting now, I plan on watching for a bit then head out for a skate at the local rink. But I want to make sure I get back for the Oilers game. I love watching Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle play.
Then I am going to order a pizza with my roomie for dinner and watch the Maple Leafs head in to Montreal . It’s going to be such a fun game to watch. I have a feeling that Joffrey Lupul is going to get his first point as a Maple Leaf tonight.
What are you doing on this great day?
I have a video for you guys today. I was talking to my friend Nick on Twitter about the Islanders trading for Al Montoya. And he mentioned to me that one of his only memories of Montoya in the NHL was his fight with Rick DiPietro. I can remember he was pretty hyped up when he got drafted. The year that Alex Ovechkin was drafted 1st overall, Montoya was drafted 6th overall.
I just find funny now that the Islanders needed a goalie after Rick DiPietro was injured in a fight. So they traded for a goalie who has also fought Dipetro.

Welcome To The Tdot Joffrey Lupul

The Toronto Maple Leafs just got a lot Hotter :)
Leaf land had something to talk about yesterday when Brian Burke pulled off this deal
To Ducks: Francois Beauchmin
To Leafs: Joffrey Lupul, Jake Gardiner and a conditional draft pick in 2013

Leafs Win, Kessel Still Slumping

After a brutal 1st period last night, the Maple Leafs were able to come back and grab 2 points from the Atlanta Thrashers. It was a back and forth game and both teams were pretty sloppy in their own end.
With all the Phil Kessel Vs Ron Wilson talk going on, I was expecting a big game from Kessel. But he ended up being a minus 2 on the night and didn't register a point. It's just so hard to watch him play, because if he played with more heart and actually won a board battle once and a while it would be ok if he wasn't scoring. Most of the players in the league would love to have his skating ability and slick hands. But It seems like Kessel is missing some key parts to his game. I wonder if they will ever develop.
The Maple Leaf head in to Long Island tonight and play future Toronto Maple Leaf John Tavares. Yes Tavares will be signing with the Leafs once he becomes a UFA. With Rick DiPietro hurt once again the Leafs will be facing Kevin Poulin in net. I am usually pretty good at knowing about young prospects, but never heard of this guy. It's pretty safe to say the Islanders are tanking the year and looking forward to another top 5 pick.
With a win tonight the Leafs are shooting for 4 wins in their last 5 games.
What is the over/under for attendance tonight?
10,000 maybe?
:)

Weekend Quick Hits

Darryl Boyce is one tough dude. I love that he got someone to take a picture of his mangled nose and then posted it to twitter. I don’t even want to think about how much that would hurt.
The Kontinental Hockey League says Russian defenseman Denis Kulyash has smashed hockey's hardest shot record. Kulyash hit 110.3 miles per hour at the KHL's all-star skills competiton Saturday, well ahead of the 105.9 m.p.h. shot Chara registered at last weekend's NHL all-star game in Raleigh , N.C.
I am going to take a guess and say the radar gun was alittle off.
Today the Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed that centre Evgeni Malkin has a torn MCL and ACL. He is discussing his options with doctors on surgery or rehabilitation. This is a huge blow to the Pens. If he is gone for the year, look for the Pens to be pretty active at the trade deadline trying to add some scoring.

Optimus Reim the next Felix Potvin?

Well I was a lucky girl and got to go to both Leaf games this week. I can’t remember the last time I went to 2 games in a week and they won both of them.
Congratulations to James Reimer on getting his first shutout in the NHL. He is so cool and confident in net and always seems to be in the right position. Watching him compared to Jonas Gustavsson is day and night. The Monster always seems to be scrambling around the crease and looking around for the puck.

Snow Day, Hump Day

I was at the Leaf game last night and was very happy that they got 2 points. But still was amazed with how many giveaways the Maple Leafs do every game. After Phil Kessel took that stupid penalty with 5 minutes left and the Panthers tied up the game, the leafs still gave up the puck a few times that almost led to a late goal.

Real Hockey Starts Tomorrow
It looks like All Star weekend was a success. I enjoyed some parts of it, but I guess in many ways the game is for new fans to the game or young children. Just doesn't have the same feel for me, when I was younger I would get so excited for both the game and skills competition. This year it was a time filler in between writing a paper and doing family stuff.

All Star Draft
So the big draft if tonight. Who do you think will be the last picked?
I am really hoping it's not Phil Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Haven't the Leafs and Phil suffered enough this year..lol. I am thinking David Backes will be the last picked.
I will be watching this draft tonight at my parents house. My grandparents are in town and we are having a family dinner. Should be fun watching it with my Papa and Dad, they both know hockey so well.
I have a feeling that Lidstrom and Staal have worked out a deal on who they want. I can see Lidstrom getting both the Sedins and Staal getting Stamkos, Ward and his bro Marc Staal.
Regardless, will be fun to watch something new tonight!

Cuba and Gretzky
So after some freezing cold temperatures here in Toronto I am starting to look at taking off during reading week. I know some of my friends are going to Cuba, so that is an option. But when I look in my bank account and see how little cash is in there, I might just stay in the city and work. I know my parents would give me money to go away. But I am starting to get to the point where I don't like taking money from them. God, I guess I am growing up..lol

Maple Leafs Vs Capitals

I was suppose to go to this game, but my Dad is taking his brother instead. Hate you uncle David:)
A nice lazy Saturday for me, I am trying to get some reading done for school, but that can wait. I was also going to go snowboarding today with some friends, but Anna couldn't get her car and we didn't feel like driving up with the boys.
Not sure where I am going to watch the Leafs game tonight. I don't mind watching at a bar but I like to be able to hear what is going on. So most of the times I will watch it with some friends at my place and have a few predrinks before going out.
So the Washington Capitals are in town
Looking at the stats I can't believe Alex Ovechkin only has 16 goals in 48 games. Hoping the Leafs can keep him off the scoreboard. But somehow he always has big games against the Leafs. I have a feeling he will end up scoring. Mike Green is also having an off year with 21 points in 41 games. That is not bad for most defencemen in the league. But if you look at his stats last year you expect him to have much better numbers.
The Leafs are going to have Mike Brown back from his 3 game Suspension. The Maple Leafs really do miss him when he is not in the lineup. Look for him to dish out some big body checks and add some much needed toughness to the lineup.
I am also really looking forward to the 2nd game on Hockey Night in Canada. The Vancouver Canucks host the Calgary Flames. This should be a fun game to watch, and I am hoping the Sedins can get me some points for my Fantasy team this week.
Have a great night
Go Leafs Go:)

Going to the Leaf Game Tonight:)

Leaf Game Tonight:)
I am going to the Leaf game tonight with my Dad
I am going to the Leaf game tonight with my Dad
One of the things I get excited most about Leaf games is watching the other team's star players. Yes, I do love my Leafs and do want them to win out there every night. But it's nice to watch other amazing players play live right in front of you.
I was really looking forward to seeing Ryan Getzlaf play, but he is still out from getting his face smashed in with a puck. I wonder how many Leaf players are going to want to kill Corey Perry by the time the game is done. I have a feeling he is going to score tonight though.
Other players I am going to watch are Bobby Ryan and rookie Cam Fowler. I have been hearing a lot of good things about Fowler and want to see how he plays in person, and watch how is plays without the puck in his own zone
It looks like Giggy will be in net tonight. Would love to see him get a win against his old team.
So do I boo Jason Blake?

Toronto Maple Leafs Visit Hospital for Sick Children
I love when I find videos like this.
The Toronto Maples Leafs, do a yearly visit to Sick kids. (I think it should be more often)
From Dion playing some air hockey and Versteeg looking all cool and badass with his hat turned backwards. He looks very Justin Bieberish..lol
It’s been going on for over 50 years now…enjoy
Did anyone else see Beauchemin's brutal turnover on the bubble hockey table? lol...

Hockey With My Dad
I am pretty sure my dad wishes he had a Son. I know when I would bring a boyfriend home that played hockey (for some reason all my ex's have been hockey players) my Dad would like him right away and they would talk hockey.
If I had a buck everytime I watched a hockey game with my Dad I would be rich. So many nights that my mom would already be in bed and my Dad would let me stay up and watch the double header on Hockey Night in Canada. He would always make popcorn and let me put as much butter as i wanted on…lol. He would talk to me about certain plays and tell me which players were having bad nights out there. I learned a lot from my Dad on those nights.

Jenna Loves Hockey is Open for Business
So this is my first post on my new blogJ
I have always loved hockey and followed it since I was a kid. It was how my Dad and I bonded. I go to around 20 Toronto Maple Leaf games a year as my family has season tickets. So I am not just your average fan.
I hope that I can update this at least once a week. School gets busy sometimes but I hope I can keep this active.
Here are some of my favorite players
Sidney Crosby
Big shocker here, but I love him even more now after
that golden goal he scored. It's hard not to love the guy, he gives it his all every shift on the ice and works so hard in the offseason. I hope his concussion is not that bad and he will be back out there soon for the Pens.

Kris Versteeg
Versteeg is my favorite Toronto Maple Leaf. I love how he can stick handle in a phone booth, and I think he
will be a huge part of the Leafs moving forward.

Ryan Kesler
I have like watching Kesler for years. And it’s not just because he is a hottie (does look great in boxers thoughJ). He is in my mind the best two-way player in the NHL. He is also on pace to score more 40 goals this season.
