Well I was a lucky girl and got to go to both Leaf games this week. I can’t remember the last time I went to 2 games in a week and they won both of them.
Congratulations to James Reimer on getting his first shutout in the NHL. He is so cool and confident in net and always seems to be in the right position. Watching him compared to Jonas Gustavsson is day and night. The Monster always seems to be scrambling around the crease and looking around for the puck.
Tim Brent had another solid game for the Maple Leafs and is well on this way to getting a street named after him. He blocked some huge shots on the Hurricanes 5 on 3 powerplay and is showing some pretty good chemistry with Colby Armstrong and Kris Versteeg.
On the back end, Luke Schenn played well and it was nice to see Mike Komisarek play a pretty solid game. There were some nice big hits and I don’t remember seeing a game this year that the Leafs were so physical. I think the team that played tonight is what Brian Burke was hoping for since the beginning of the season.
I also read tonight that Tomas Kaberle has played 871 career games as a Leaf, 669 more than Nikolai Kulemin - who is the next highest scorer among current players. Pretty interesting stat.
The Leafs head in to Buffalo Saturday night, lets hope the winning streak keeps going
