Weekend Quick Hits

Darryl Boyce is one tough dude. I love that he got someone to take a picture of his mangled nose and then posted it to twitter. I don’t even want to think about how much that would hurt.

The Kontinental Hockey League says Russian defenseman Denis Kulyash has smashed hockey's hardest shot record. Kulyash hit 110.3 miles per hour at the KHL's all-star skills competiton Saturday, well ahead of the 105.9 m.p.h. shot Chara registered at last weekend's NHL all-star game in Raleigh, N.C.

I am going to take a guess and say the radar gun was alittle off.

Today the Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed that centre Evgeni Malkin has a torn MCL and ACL. He is discussing his options with doctors on surgery or rehabilitation. This is a huge blow to the Pens. If he is gone for the year, look for the Pens to be pretty active at the trade deadline trying to add some scoring.

One year ago Today, Brendan Burke, the son of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke, died in a car accident. He was 21. It would be great if the Leafs could get a big win for Burkie tonight. It will be a tough task to get 2 points in Buffalo. The Leafs always seem to have problems playing in that building. Maybe the Leafs need to lay off the pre game wings at Anchor Bar.

Go Leafs Go
