Real Hockey Starts Tomorrow

It looks like All Star weekend was a success. I enjoyed some parts of it, but I guess in many ways the game is for new fans to the game or young children. Just doesn't have the same feel for me, when I was younger I would get so excited for both the game and skills competition. This year it was a time filler in between writing a paper and doing family stuff.

I did enjoy the player draft. It was pretty cool to hear the players talking over picks and watching the players start to sweat about being the last one picked. Of course our very own Phil Kessel was picked last. I felt bad for him up there on the stage. He is just so awkward and even when he speaks he doesn't sound like a confident guy.

There were some highlights from the Skills competition. I don't know how Corey Perry did that lacrosse style stickhandling move, It was awesome. And seeing Chara and Weber blasting the puck during the hardest shot competition was amazing. Those guys have such hard shots I would hate to be a goalie when they are shooting. It makes wonder if Weber wants out of Nashville to play in a bigger hockey market. By the time he is a UFA, Mr Lidstrom will be retired from the Red Wings. Now there is an Eklund rumour for you..lol  It's a Jenna (3)

During the All Star game it was pretty cool that CBC had a mic on some of the players. Eric Staal screaming everytime he missed a shot or lost the puck was great. Also watching Tim Thomas talking while the play was 10 feet away from him was awesome.

But overall for me it was just something to do with hockey, and I watched of course. Yeeeeh real hockey is back tomorrow:)

  1. The All Star weekend is not what it used to be but I enjoyed it.

I felt bad for Kessel getting picked last but he did get a car out of it haha.

I like how they are trying to find new ways to make the all star weekend exciting. There was a lot of hype this year.
